5. Output files
Controlled by the same outswitch_* / outfile_* lines in RRI_Input.txt as the
original model:
| Variable | Config flag | What it is |
|---|---|---|
hs_NNNNNN.out | outswitch_hs | Slope (overland) water depth, m |
hr_NNNNNN.out | outswitch_hr | River water depth, m |
hg_NNNNNN.out | outswitch_hg | Groundwater deficit |
qr_NNNNNN.out | outswitch_qr | River discharge, m³/s |
gampt_ff_NNNNNN.out | outswitch_gampt_ff | Cumulative Green-Ampt infiltration depth, m |
qu_NNNNNN.out | outswitch_qu | Slope discharge, x-component (east-positive), m³/s |
qv_NNNNNN.out | outswitch_qv | Slope discharge, y-component (south-positive), m³/s |
gu_NNNNNN.out | outswitch_gu | Groundwater lateral flow, x-component, m³/s |
gv_NNNNNN.out | outswitch_gv | Groundwater lateral flow, y-component, m³/s |
storage.dat | outswitch_storage | Basin-wide water balance (one line per timestep) |
Each .out file is a plain-text grid (one row per line, space-separated), matching
the original model's ASCII format byte-for-byte in structure (nx × ny values,
same 5-decimal fixed-width formatting) — any tool that reads the original RRI's
output (QGIS, the bundled calcHydro.exe, custom scripts) reads VFlood-RRI's output
the same way. qu/qv/gu/gv are discharge (m³/s), not velocity — RRI.f90's own
(qs(1)+(qs(3)-qs(4))/2)*area / (qs(2)+(qs(3)+qs(4))/2)*area decomposition of the
4-directional slope flux into x/y components — see §6's --formats vector for a
proper velocity (m/s) vector map built on top of these.
Not yet implemented: binary output mode (outswitch_* == 2). The CLI prints a
warning and skips this if your config requests it — everything else still runs
normally.
